Don’t just learn Japanese – learn Japan. Study at your new home in the heart of Fukuoka/Tokyo. Experience the most interesting and comprehensive Japanese language and culture lessons in Japan!
GenkiJACS was created to be one of the first Japanese schools in Japan teaching communicative Japanese for everyday life, rather than academic Japanese for higher education. All aspects of our schools in Fukuoka and Tokyo are organized around this central philosophy. That’s why lessons focus not just on what to say, but on when, how and why to say it. That’s why we run multiple programs and events to help our students make friends with Japanese people. And that’s why our class sizes are by far the smallest of any accredited Japanese school in Japan. We call this “the GenkiJACS difference”. It’s a big part of the reason why we were the first Japanese school ever to be voted Star World Language School, the highest award available to a language school, and why students come back to study with us again and again! At GenkiJACS, we believe in treating every student like a VIP. Staff have helped students to arrange birthday parties, to ship medicine, to rent a studio for music practice, to shop for non-allergen products, and much more. We adapt our lessons to the needs of each student, while keeping them practical and interesting, to give you the skills and confidence for success. Classes involve real-world situations, guest instructors, field trips and more, and the small size of our schools means you’ll have plenty of time to talk with the teacher both inside and outside of class. The proof is in reviews from former students, where GenkiJACS is regularly ranked highest among all Japanese schools. If you only have one chance to study Japanese, make sure you do it right: learn Japan with GenkiJACS!
Small class size
A maximum of eight students gives you lots of chances to practice with the teacher.
Learn about cosplay culture with a professional otaku teacher, or study ancient arts such as sword-fighting and zen meditation.
Unlike most Japanese schools, courses start almost every Monday year-round, and you can study for as long as you want, from 2 weeks to a year or more!
They’re the most important part of any school. That’s why we hire the best native Japanese staff, and perform regular training.
Lots of class levels
We run a huge number of classes all the time, so we’re almost guaranteed to have a class at the right level for you!
Multiple accreditations and awards, including being selected as one of the top language schools in the world, are a guarantee of a great education.
Small class sizes make it easy to understand the lesson content.
All our teachers are highly qualified native Japanese speakers.

When you arrive at GenkiJACS, you are placed into the ongoing class that is most appropriate for you. Your placement is decided based on the following:
1. The results of your online level check test.
2. The results of the placement test and interview held on your first day at school.
As your study continues, you move up automatically through the class levels. When you complete the material for one level, you will advance to the next level, for as long as you study with us.
All classes are held on a rolling start basis. This means that you enter an ongoing class, partway through that class’s syllabus. If your ability level is slightly below the level of that class, we provide free “catch-up classes” to raise you to the appropriate level.
The exception to this is complete beginners, who start from the first Monday of each month only. If you are the only student at your specific level when you arrive, a new class will be created for you.
As students can start any Monday, and you can study for as many weeks as you like, the students in your class can change from week to week. New students may arrive on a Monday, and old students graduate on a Friday. We have a time-tested system in place to minimize disruption to the class.
Because we offer so many different class levels at any time, we are able to place you into a class that matches your current ability level closer than at other Japanese schools.
