Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) was established in Kyoto, Japan’s former capital and the world-famous sightseeing place, in 1963 becoming Japan’s first computer training institution. At present context, KCG is still takes pride in its performance and tradition which has lasted more than 60 years. There are alumni of more than 50,000 graduates form the largest contacts network of information industry not only in Japan but also across the world.
There are 20 courses with 1 to 4 years duration, and are established in 5 departments, ▽Art and Design ▽Business ▽Computer science ▽Digital game ▽Engineering. Practical curriculums that directly connect to real jobs are adopted. KCG provides learning opportunities for a wide range of ages and has cultivated many graduates who are active in the front lines of the industry.

Curriculum Features
The 12 full-time courses tailored for international students at our institution cover a wide range of disciplines with the aim of preparing graduates for employment opportunities both in their home countries and in Japan. Furthermore, students have the opportunity to pursue advanced education at Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) to attain the highest degree in applied information technology in Japan, Upon completion of the 3 courses provided by the Information Engineering Program, students will earn the title of "Advanced Diploma." For the remaining programs, students will earn the title of "Diploma". Additionally, for distance learning students, the International Applied Informatics Program offers a 4 year program.
Furthermore, if you pass the JLPT N2, you will be eligible to enroll in departments and courses other than the international course.
【Full-time courses】
◆International Business Management Course
This cross-disciplinary course explores the use of generative AI in a diverse range of genres, including innovation for sustainable regional industry, trade, finance, logistics, medical information and international investment. Students in this course also acquire skills and knowledge about enterprise resource planning (ERP), an integrated management system that enables companies to manage their business resources centrally to maximize value.
◆International Automobile Control Course
Kyoto Automobile School, one of our group schools, cultivates auto mechanics. There are various of the latest automobiles and essential facilities at the school. Japanese Language lessons are also available. Students aim to become automobile engineers who can lead the automobile industry within the Asia.
◆International Business IT Course
Classes are organized according to students' Japanese levels. International students from different countries who have less kanji characters writing skills can be improved for specialized study and study IT from beginner level at the same time. Students aim to be engineers who can work globally.
◆International Manga and Anime Technology Course
Working from a global perspective, this course cultivates digital anime and manga production engineers with skills in AI, management and marketing. After acquiring a grounding in basic knowledge, students learn to use drawing applications such as Maya and AutoCAD and 3D computer-graphics applications such as Blender. Students also work on production of promotional videos using AI.
◆International ICT Business Course
Students begin by acquiring the basic knowledge of ICT they will need on the business scenes of a new age. The course then addresses the gathering, analysis, dissemination and joining-up of information necessary to use it for social media in business. Students also learn about skills that are trending in ICT. The course cultivates international personnel who can design a business making full use of social media, responding rapidly to developments in a fast-changing society.
◆International Information Science Course
Trains solution engineers and IT architects capable of analyzing customer needs and proposing/building solutions using information systems. Aims to cultivate leaders who can excel globally in the IT industry.
◆International Art Information Course
Focuses on exploring the possibilities of digital art to the fullest extent while also equipping students with planning and management skills to anticipate the final outcome of projects and lead them to success. Aims to nurture internationally active art directors.
◆International Business Information Course
Provides students with management knowledge, such as analyzing the operations and profitability of various departments within a company, along with practical information and communication technology skills. Aims to develop IT consultants and project managers who can lead businesses using IT across departments, designing and proposing information systems for functions like production management and customer management.
◆International Information Course
Students will improve their Japanese language skills in classes such as "Technical Japanese" and study IT from beginner level. They will be especially focused on "programming technology" and "Web production technology" which are essential in the business field. Classes are organized according to students' Japanese level and the teaching pace is adjusted to student ability.
◆International Art and Design Course
Students obtain basic skills and knowledge of computers and the latest skills needed in order to be active in the digital art field. At the beginning from the basics in design such as basic drawing and color, students can learn the use of design production software, planning and management skills. It is possible to learn manga/anime and construct design as well.
◆International Tourism Information Course
KCG offers a curriculum to learn new IT applied sightseeing services and tourism business models, taking advantage of being in Kyoto, a famous sightseeing place. Students can work on real problem-solving such as providing tourism information and computerization, analysis, and forecast of tourists' movements. Students can also aim to obtain qualifications such as Certified Travel Services Manager.
◆Global Tourism Information Course
Students begin by acquiring the skills and knowledge to utilize ICT in addressing various challenges in inbound tourism, regional revitalization, tourism DX, and AI-based tourism. The program aims to develop professionals who can contribute to the development of regional tourism industries and lead the creation of sustainable tourism business models through collaboration among academia, industry, and government.

◆International Applied Informatics Program
Lecture videos and course materials on cutting-edge IT subjects are prepared, and students use the latest learning management system to access and learn from course materials through a personalized, dedicated page. There will be two schooling programs planned, one in summer and the other in spring, at the Kyoto Ekimae campus. In this program, they prepare classes and events that allow students to experience Kyoto's traditions and culture. ※The flexible online course (distance learning) for International Applied Informatics program students are not eligible for a students visa.

For International Students
Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) offers 12 international courses aimed at nurturing information processing technicians who can excel globally. All course allows for enrollment in either April or October.
KCG has a dedicated team of staff to support international students, not only in their studies but also in various aspects of life such as living arrangements and part-time job placements. Many students from various countries studying at KCG have been able to enjoy a fulfilling student life without any worries.
Starting from April 2024, KCG has introduced the International Information Science Course, International Art Information Course, and International Business Information Course within the Information Engineering Department (four-year program). These courses are open for transfer from universities overseas. Students will acquire cutting-edge knowledge and skills in information systems, art, and business, aiming to become IT professionals who can thrive globally. Upon graduation from any of these courses, students can obtain the title of "Advance Diploma" Graduates also have the option to further their studies at Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) and obtain the highest degree in applied information technology in Japan, the "Master of Information Technology (Professional)."
The correspondence course "International Applied Information Science Department" allows students to learn cutting-edge IT anytime, anywhere.
※Target: those who have passed JLPT N3 or those who have attended
at least 6 months of Japanese language education at a Japanese language school.
※It is possible to enter other courses apart from the international-related courses when the applicant passes JLPT N2 or is recognized as having equal or higher ability equivalent to JLPT N2.
