Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) was established in 1963 as Japan's first computer educational institution in Kyoto, Japan's former capital and a world famous sightseeing place. At present, KCG boasts a 60 year long tradition and track record of producing more than 50,000 graduates, forming the largest global human network in the information industry.
Ranging from 1 to 4 years in duration, there are 20 programs offered across 5 departments–Art & Design, Business & Management, Computer Science, Digital Game & Amusement, and Engineering for Embedded Systems–in which practical curriculum have been adopted allowing a direct path to real-world application.

There is an abundance of the latest equipment and machinery. At KCG, the utmost efforts are made to provide an environment where students can freely explore the cutting-edge of their field.

Curriculum Features
KCG offers 12 full-time courses designed for international students which cover a broad range of disciplines with the aim of preparing students for employment opportunities both in their home country and in Japan. Students also have the opportunity to pursue a professional Master's degree in Information Technology — the highest degree in Japan for applied informatics — at the Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics, an affiliated institution in the KCG Group. Of these 12 courses, students who graduate from the 3 courses in the Information Engineering Program will receive an advanced technical diploma.
Those who enroll in the Flexible Online Course — which offers the 4-year International Applied Informatics Program — will be eligible to take other courses beyond those aimed for international students upon passing the N2 level of the JLPT.

◆International Business Management Course (3-year program)
This interdisciplinary course explores the use of generative AI (artificial intelligence) across a diverse range of fields, including innovation for sustainable regional industries, trades, finance, logistics, medical information and international investment. Students in this course will acquire the technical skills and knowledge necessary for managing company systems and maximizing resources through integrated management systems and enterprise resource planning (ERP).
◆International Automobile Control Course (3-year program)
At the KCG Automobile School—one of the KCG group schools—students are provided access to the latest vehicles and facilities for training mechanics. Japanese language classes are also available. Students aim to become leading automotive technicians in Asia.
◆International Business IT Course (2-year program)
In this course, students are placed into classes organized according to their Japanese language proficiency. International students who come from countries that do not use kanji characters are taught the Japanese language skills necessary for studying in specialized fields while also acquiring fundamental IT skills.
◆International Manga and Anime Technology Course (3-year program)
AI skills and marketing knowledge are cultivated with a global perspective for fostering professionals in digital animation and manga production. After acquiring foundational knowledge, students will master 3DCG software such as Maya, AutoCAD (technical drawing), and Blender while utilizing AI technology in producing promotional videos.
◆International ICT Business Course (2-year program)
Students will first acquire the fundamental ICT knowledge essential for the business scenes of the new era, then learn the skills needed to utilize social media for business—including the gathering, analyzing and dissemination of information, and establishing connections—as well as learning about skills that are trending in the ICT field. This course aims to foster globally-minded professionals who can make full use of social media to design business strategies and thrive in a rapidly changing society.
◆International Informatics Course (4-year program)
This course develops students into solution engineers and IT architects capable of analyzing the needs of client companies and build solutions using information systems. Students aim to become global leaders who can thrive in the IT industry.
◆International Art Information Course (4-year program)
This course aims to produce art directors capable of working on the global stage who not only explore the full potential of digital art, but also possess the planning and management skills needed to envision and successfully lead projects to completion.
◆International Management Information Course (4-year program)
Students will acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to become IT consultants and project managers capable of designing and proposing cross-departmental information systems, such as those for production management and customer management. As future leaders driving business growth through effective use of IT, students will develop an understanding of departmental operations and methods for analyzing profitability, and learn how to combine business management techniques with practical ICT skills.
◆International Information Course (3-year program)
Through technical Japanese language classes, students will develop the language proficiency needed for study in the specialized field of their choice while also learning the fundamentals of IT. Students will especially gain a well-rounded understanding of essential skills for programming and web development in the business IT field. Classes are organized according to students' Japanese proficiency levels and the pace of instruction is adjusted accordingly.
◆International Art and Design Course (3-year program)
In addition to mastering the fundamentals of computer technology, students will develop the latest skills needed to become active in the digital art scene. Starting with the basics of design, such as drawing and color theory, students will learn how to use design software, and gain planning and management skills. Students will also have the opportunity to study manga, anime, and architectural design.
◆Global Tourism Advanced Information Course (3-year program)
KCG offers a curriculum to learn new IT applied sightseeing services and tourism business models, taking advantage of being in Kyoto, a famous sightseeing place. Students can work on real problem-solving such as providing tourism information and computerization, analysis, and forecast of tourists' movements. Students can also aim to obtain qualifications such as Certified Travel Services Manager.
◆Global Tourism Information Course (2-year program)
Taking advantage of our location in Kyoto, a popular tourist destination, this course curriculum focuses on utilizing applied informatics to produce new tourism services and business models. Students will tackle practical challenges with providing tourism information, and the informatization, analysis, and prediction of tourist behavior patterns. This course also aims to help students obtain certification, such as the Certified Travel Supervisor license.
【Flexible Online Course (distance learning)】
◆International Applied Informatics Program (4-year program)
Using the latest learning management system, students can access course materials and lecture videos on cutting-edge IT topics. An on-campus schooling session is planned during the spring and summer at the Kyoto Ekimae campus to allow students the chance to experience Kyoto's traditions and culture through classes and events.
※Please note that since this program is a distance learning course, students enrolled in this program will not be eligible for a student visa.

For International Students
Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) offers 12 international courses aimed at nurturing information processing technicians who can excel globally. All courses allow for enrollment in either April or October.
KCG has a dedicated team of staff to support international students, not only in their studies but also in various aspects of daily life such as living arrangements and part-time job placements. Many students from different countries who study at KCG have been able to enjoy a fulfilling student life without any worries.
KCG's International Informatics Course, International Art Information Course, and International Management Information Course in the Information Engineering Program (4 year program) accepts transfer students from overseas universities. Students will acquire cutting-edge knowledge and skills in information systems, art, and business, aiming to become IT professionals who can thrive globally. Upon graduation from any of these courses, students can obtain an Advanced Technical Diploma. Graduates also have the option to further their studies within the KCG Group at the Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics and obtain the highest degree in applied information technology in Japan - a professional degree in Master of Information Technology.
The International Applied Informatics Program, a flexible online course, allows students to learn cutting-edge information technology at anytime from any location.
※Target: Those who have passed JLPT N3 or those who have attended
at least 1 year of Japanese language education at a Japanese language school.
※Applicants who have passed the JLPT N2 level or have been recognized as having Japanese language ability equivalent or higher than the JLPT N2 level can also apply to other program courses outside of the international-related courses.
※Applicants enrolling into the International Applied Informatics Program under the Flexible Online Course (distance learning) will not be eligible for a student visa.
