Toyo University has various support systems in place to create an environment in which international students can concentrate on their studies.

[Support 1] Courses for International Students
Each faculty offers courses for international students, such as "Japanese Language and Japanese Society" to help students understand Japan.

[Support 2] "Toyo University International Students Association," a place for international students to interact with each other
The Toyo University International Students Association provides a place for international students to exchange ideas, discuss problems, and help each other. Various events are held every year.

[Support 3] Medical care and consultation services
Doctors and nurses are on call in the Medical Office/Healthcare Center to deal with emergencies. In addition, if students have any worries or problems, professional counselors are available at the Student Support Office/Student Counseling Center.

[Support 4] “Foreign Student Insurance" to support family members coming to Japan in case of emergency
The Toyo University International Student Compensation System provides compensation for expenses incurred by family members coming to Japan from their home countries in the event of illness or accident of the international student him/herself.

[Support 5] Smooth Housing Search
We have partnered with companies that can provide multilingual housing search support and guarantor contracts for lease agreements, making these services available at low cost.

[Support 6]Business Japanese language education
Business Japanese is the most important skill that Japanese companies look for when hiring international students. Toyo University provides various opportunities for international students to learn business Japanese.

Founded by philosopher Enryo Inoue, the university has a history and tradition of over 130 years.

【A Campus Rich in Individuality】
The Hakusan Campus, Toyo University's main campus with easy access from central Tokyo, is where students from the Faculties of Letters, Economics, Business Administration, Law, Sociology, International Studies, and International Tourism study for four years.
The Akabanedai Campus, located in Tokyo's Kita Ward, is home to the School of Information Interdisciplinary Studies (INIAD), which aims to create human resources who can innovate in the networked age through the collaboration and fusion of engineering, design, business, and civil systems disciplines based on computer science, In April 2023, two new faculties will be established: the Faculty of Social Welfare and Social Design, which will provide students with the knowledge and practical skills to design the future shape of society, and the Faculty of Health and Sports Science, which will offer advanced and specialized knowledge and skills in health, sports, food, and nutrition.
The "Kawagoe Campus," located in Saitama and equipped with the latest facilities and equipment, is home to the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Informatics, while the "Asaka Campus," renovated in 2024, is a campus for "Life and Food" where students of the Faculty of Life Science and the Faculty of Food and Environmental Science will study.

Curriculum Features

Both learning and experience are deep and broad.
The distinctive feature of learning at Toyo University is the large scale of the university. In an environment that allows for cross-curricular learning, we offer a wide range of academic programs, and our highly qualified professors provide classes that are diverse and unique. In addition, the graduate school, with 15 graduate schools and 36 majors (in FY2023), conducts highly specialized research in each field. Many of our projects have received external funding due to our excellent track record, and world-class research is being conducted in collaboration with a cutting-edge research center.

The late President Shojuro Shiokawa founded this scholarship program in April 2002 with the aim of promoting international exchange at Toyo University and contributing to the nurturing of international students.

Selection is made among those who have excellent academic performance and character, are in good health, and have the intention to contribute to the development of their home country after graduation.
